Bandi at Lake Sonoma, August 4, 2001

a dog named Bandi

a.k.a. “Max”, a.k.a. “Honey”

Bandi is deceased now, but I leave this page up as a memorial to her.

In the year 2000, my daughter's half-brother (who is not my stepson) had a friend who played at our house. Sometimes a dog would follow them home from school and play with them. They called it “Max” and played with it a lot. In the summer of 2001, we were contacted by the owners of the dog who said they were moving and offered to leave their dog with us. The dog had just spent all day playing in the backyard with my daughter's half-brother, my daughter who was a toddler then, and their mother. There was water play with hoses and buckets.

We found out the dog's real name is “Bandi.” On August 9, 2001 she had her sixth birthday. This picture shows her at Lake Sonoma Park a few days before that. My daughter called the dog “Max” for the longest time, even after her half-brother was finally convinced to call the dog by the name her previous owners gave her. In the fall of 2001, my daughter took to calling the dog “Honey.” Bandi didn't seem to mind. She really liked it where we lived at the time. We had a problem with her leaking pee, but it seemed to not be her fault. She may have been beaten or medically damaged in some other way.

Bandi Saves Car!

January 11, 2002: Bandi barks at whoever was breaking into my car at 2 a.m., scaring them off. (It also helped that I had an autolock on the clutch that they could not cut).
