Dream On

Steven Tyler wrote this great song that was first released back in on the eponymous Aerosmith debut album. In an interview on the Australian 60 minutes TV show on , Steven Tyler was asked by reporter Liz Hayes if he had really spent twenty million dollars on drugs as a rock star. He said “No, probably, realistically five or six [million], easy. But it doesn’t matter. You could also say I’ve snorted half of Peru. It’s what we did.” In 2013 The Bicycling Guitarist changed the lyrics of this song in two places, no disrespect intended towards Steven Tyler. I sing it the original way for family friendly gigs and with the altered lyrics other places.

Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay

Yeah, I know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win

Half my life's in books' written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things you do, come back to you
Steven Tyler snorted half of Peru!

Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away

Sing with me, sing it for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away

Dream on, dream on, dream on,
Dream until your dream come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on,
And dream until your dream come true
Steven Tyler snorted half of Peru!
Dream on [7x]

Sing with me, sing it for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing it for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away

Sing with me, sing it for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing it for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away.
